IHSAAN are delighted to announce the launch of our peer support group which will commence in June!

Assalamualikum,

IHSAAN are delighted to announce the launch of our peer support group which will commence in June!

This year’s topic for mental health awareness week is ‘loneliness’. One in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time and there’s no single cause and there’s no one solution. The longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems. Some people are also at higher risk of feeling lonely than others. Our support group invites separate groups for males and females to come together every week to use their shared experiences to support one another in alignment with Islamic values.

The format of the support group will be in the form of group discussion, voicing and expressing views on a chosen topic or theme agreed upon at the initial sessions- we want you to choose topics which are relevant to you!

The peer support groups may be suitable for people who are aged 18+, have mental health difficulties, struggle with loneliness, isolation, need befriending and socialization, are vulnerable on different levels, open to reaching out, are able to cope with a group situation of up to 10 people, have a desire to express themselves openly and respectfully and allow others to do the same.

The peer support groups are less suitable for people who; have serious mental health disorders such as psychosis, sever or persistent depression, sever incapacitating anxiety, severe learning difficulties, have a low level of education (due to reading material being reviewed in groups), are unable to participate in a group setting.
