Q: Can I access the service free of charge/ at a reduced rate?

A: Ihsaan is independent from the NHS and self-funded. We aim to provide an accessible and affordable service to the local community and aim to keep costs as low as possible to reduce barriers to accessing services. As such, we are unable to offer any discretions as our sessions range from £40.00 (for the initial assessment) to £30.00-£35.00 for each therapy session.

Q: What services are available?

A: – Counselling and psychological therapies using different modalities e.g., CBT, Person-Centred, Integrative, in-depth Psychotherapy etc.

– Religiously compliant marital counselling

– Variety of conditions covered which are mild to moderate in severity e.g., depression, anxiety, jinn disturbance, trauma, abuse, family and marital problems, bereavement, OCD etc.

Q: What are the limitations to accessing the services?

Ihsaan provides therapy via phone and video technology where appropriate to clients across the United Kingdom only.

Q: How can I refer into the service?

A: Please refer via our website directly www.ihsaan.org.uk/refer – we do not take referrals via post. Telephone referrals are limited and not encouraged unless a necessity.

Q: Can you please book me in for an appointment with a certain practitioner?

A: We are unable to do this as all referrals are allocated by a senior practitioner. Please rest assured that you will be seen by the most suitable practitioner on our team to assist you at this time, and all therapists receive regular supervision from a senior therapist at Ihsaan.

Q: Why have you taken so long to get back to my query?

A: Ihsaan is a consortium of individual practitioners and all staff work on a part-time basis, including our admin staff. We aim to check all emails on Wednesday/Thursday weekly and phone calls on a Thursday. We do encourage you to email our central email address as stated in our voicemail so you can receive a quicker response, as emails are checked by multiple members of staff. We thank you for your understanding.

Q: Can you help me, how many sessions will I need?

A: We encourage you to make a referral into the service and your needs will be discussed in greater detail in your initial clinical assessment. The therapist will be able to give you an insight into the best treatment plan and answer any specific questions you have relating to the treatment recommendations.

Q: How long do sessions last?

A: The clinical assessment lasts 1 hour and therapy sessions are 50 mins- 60 mins each.

Q: Why is it taking me so long to receive an appointment for my initial assessment?

A: Referrals are processed monthly; however, we are working on our processes at this time to enable appointments to be sent out sooner. Please note we are not a crisis service and we urge you to contact NHS 111/ First Response in the case of concern or speak to your GP urgently.

Q: Can I see a same-gendered therapist?

A: We will take your preferences into consideration and match to this where possible. There may be times when this is not possible due to therapist capacity, but this will be communicated with you to explore alternative arrangements e.g., working remotely or being added to a waiting list.

Q: What are your waiting times?

A: We aim to send out clinical assessment appointments within 60 days of receiving your referral, and to allocate you to a therapist within 120 days after your assessment has been completed. We are currently working on our internal processes to reduce waiting times.
